Helping to keep Hackney neighbourhoods safe, Sanctuary Housing showed off the latest home safety tools and information at Kingsmead Primary School’s recent Summer Fete.

Staff from the leading housing provider were on hand at the event to talk to residents about keeping themselves, their belongings and communities safe.

Visitors enjoyed a day out in the summer sun, as well as a range of craft, bric-a-brac and cake stalls.  The Sanctuary stand was among the most popular attractions with free goodies including personal attack alarms, UV marker pens and UV light key rings.  Information on how to set up or get involved in a neighbourhood watch scheme was also available.

Sanctuary’s regional director, Stephanie Killer, said: “It was great to see so many parents and children take an interest in making their communities safer places to live.

“We work with residents on a regular basis to ensure that their homes are as safe as possible.  Events such as these, provide an opportunity to share good practice on crime prevention with our residents”.

The home and community safety stall is the most recent Sanctuary organised crime prevention initiative.  Past projects have included burglary prevention workshops in both Hackney and Bromley.
