Mrs Peggy Davies, 90, of Hertford is the 1000th resident to benefit from a new kitchen and level access shower installed in her home as part of Riversmead Housing Association’s home improvement programme.
Working in partnership with Borras Construction who carried out the work, Riversmead are transforming 250 of their residents’ homes with new kitchens and bathrooms over the coming year.
To celebrate the occasion a bouquet of flowers was presented to Mrs Davies who said: “It’s like going into a new house, I’m thrilled to bits and I can clean everything much quicker! It’s made such a difference - I’m so pleased.”
Brian Peel, Riversmead’s Programme Delivery Manager, said: “It is a pleasure to celebrate this milestone achievement with Mrs Davies and our colleagues from Borras.
“Our residents are involved in the whole improvement process, from choosing what style of kitchen they want from a range of five that we provide including tile, wall and floor colours, to meeting with our contractor before we commence work so they understand what the work entails.”
Adam Bowden, Borras’ Managing Director, said: “We have been working closely with Riversmead for many years now and it’s very gratifying to see what a difference this work is making to the lives of people in their homes. We have had a fantastic response from residents to the new kitchens and bathrooms and we look forward to continuing our association with Riversmead in the years ahead.”
