Spektaglaze, trade and commercial fabricator in Liverpool, recently undertook the replacement of sash windows on a street in a conservation area of Liverpool. The project was part of Housing Market Renewal in Liverpool, a long term programme of refurbishment, re-development and improved management to create decent, desirable homes in attractive, healthier places. The project’s budget for 2008 – 11 is £87m.
Spektaglaze’s involvement was in Renfrew Street in the Kensington area of the city as part of the Front Environmental Improvement Scheme, which aims to improve the front exterior of homes and the surrounding environment. Since the street is in a conservation area, the choice of window was vitally important. As a Deceuninck fabricator, Spektaglaze was able to tender for the contract with Deceuninck Vertical Sliding windows manufactured by Ryburne Windows in Halifax. Richard Hincks Director of Spektaglaze said, “I believe that the Deceuninck quality and the classic heritage looks of the VS window played a big part in us winning the contract.”
What undoubtedly also helped was Spektaglaze’s reputation, which is one for commitment to a high quality service. The company’s commitment was no different on this project. They worked closely with the building contractors to ensure that everything went smoothly, something that was especially important on a project of this scale. In total, Spektaglaze replaced the sash windows in 20 houses on both sides of the street. Work on the project started in December 2009 and finished on schedule in March 2010. The finished results are stunning and have revitalised the street, maintaining its heritage looks while giving its residents the low-maintenance benefits of PVC-U.
The Spektaglaze team was proud to be involved with such an important project. Richard said, “The Front Environmental Improvement Scheme is a really far-reaching project that aims to improve the quality of people’s lives. We’re proud to have been involved in the regeneration of our city and we’re proud of the work we’ve done.”
