Residents of the Horsepool sheltered scheme in Berryhill were recently treated to a fish and chip supper by building contractor Seddons to mark a £70k investment in external improvements.
Work at the scheme has included new front doors, renewing fences and gates, external redecoration, overhauling gutters and repairing roofs. The work has been underway throughout July and forms part of Two Rivers Housing overall commitment to invest £3.3 million in the external works programme this financial year.
Andrew Smith, Customer Care Coordinator for Two Rivers said:
“Large scale external work can, at times, be disruptive and we feel it’s important that our tenants get the chance to meet with our contractors to discuss the work and have the opportunity to raise any concerns. We’d like to thank Seddons for kindly donating the food for this event. This type of relaxed atmosphere is the ideal setting to gain valuable feedback so we can improve our services in the future.”
Seddons held an open forum with residents prior to the work starting to discuss in detail the plans and type of work involved in the improvement programme.
Mrs Evelyn Hemsley and Mr Ted Smith (pictured with Darren Bullough from Seddons) said:
“Seddons and their workmen were very kind and thoughtful to us and it was such a bonus for them to donate to our fish and chip supper. Thanks to all!”
