Residents at a retirement scheme in Marlborough have organised a summer fête for their local community to help raise money for local charities.
The event on Saturday 24 July will be held at Lawrence Acre, a scheme run by Sarsen Housing Association, and officially opened at 2pm by Mayor Andrew Ross.
Activities will include a grand raffle, jumble sales, crafts, games, tarot readings and a tombola. The money raised will be donated to the Wiltshire Air Ambulance and Canons House, which provides short-term residential breaks to young people with sever learning disabilities.
A small amount will also be ploughed back into the retirement scheme’s social fund, which residents use to arrange outings and activities throughout the year.
Sarsen has nine retirement housing schemes in Wiltshire, including Lawrence Acre. They let older people enjoy their retirement and keep their independence, without the worry of home security and maintenance.
