More than 760 tenants have moved house in the first six months since the launch of Homes in the City.

Homes in the City is the scheme set up to take bids on flats and houses managed by Wolverhampton Homes. It was launched in November by Wolverhampton City Council.

Homes in the City is designed to give people as many channels as possible to bid for homes: via a website, over the phone, in person at one of six One Stop Shops around the city and by text message.

The site covers all Wolverhampton City Council properties managed by Wolverhampton Homes and Tenant Management Organisations (TMOs).

Sue Roberts, Chair of Wolverhampton Homes, said: “We are thrilled that Homes in the City has been so popular.

“We were initially concerned that using a website might put people off but we have been overwhelmed by how much interest there has been and many more people are texting and using the web than are coming into our shops.

“We wanted to make it easier for customers to move house and to see what homes were available, and the feedback we’ve had from customers says that is the case.”
