Local residents, PCSOs and Shoreline officers celebrate the award
EFFORTS to make a Grimsby neighbourhood a better place to live have been recognised with a prestigious award.
Environmental campaign group Keep Britain Tidy has handed Shoreline Housing Partnership one of its quality marks in recognition of the improvements being made on Grimsby's Nunsthorpe estate.
The Cleaner Safer Greener Quality Mark was awarded at initiator level after an independent assessment of the work undertaken by the housing provider, its partners and Nunsthorpe residents.
Andrew Eayres of Shoreline said a representative from Keep Britain Tidy visited the neighbourhood and measured working practices against nationally-recognised standards.
“The assessment was detailed,” said Shoreline officer Andrew Eayres “While the physical environment was important, they also looked at how we worked with residents and our partners, such as Humberside Police and North East Lincolnshire Council, to improve community relations, reduce anti-social behaviour and create a better place to live and work.
“We are really proud that the efforts being made over a number of years are bearing fruit.
“Our tenants are feeling the benefits of the improvements which have been made and it is satisfying to receive national recognition.
“The award will give residents confidence we are working towards a Cleaner Safer Greener Nunsthorpe. There is still a lot to do but we’re heading in the right direction.
“We are proud of what has been achieved on the Nunsthorpe by the residents, our partners and our employees.”
Keep Britain Tidy’s assessment covered five key themes: vision and values; strategic planning; partnerships; resident involvement; and key performance results.
To gain the quality mark, the standard had to be reached across all five areas and evidence provided.
The on-site inspection included interviews with various groups of employees, as well as a look around the neighbourhood.
In its assessment, the Tidy Britain Group pinpointed numerous strengths.
“There is a strong commitment to deliver high quality services for the Nunsthorpe area and Shoreline has a clear view of its own areas for improvement and its aspirations,” the assessment said.
“Residents were very positive about the difference that Shoreline has made since taking over the properties in the area and that it encourages residents to participate.
“The multi-agency holistic approach is ensuring a high level of cooperation and understanding in delivering a cleaner, safer, greener environment,” the assessment added.
