First time dancers put on special show

Young dancers from around Knowsley wowed the crowds at an exceptional performance at the Theatre Royal in St Helens.

Over 100 dancers, aged from as young as 6 years old took to the stage as a culmination of a special project organised by Rebound Dance Group and funded by Knowsley Housing Trust.

Professional dance instructors worked with 5 community and youth groups over 10 weeks to teach them original routines to perform on the night. As well as learn new routines the sessions also increased fitness, confidence and self esteem.

Some of the young entertainers had never performed on stage before and there were 15 separate routines which had the watching audience dancing along in the aisles.

Jacqui Birchall from Rebound Dance Group said:

“It was a very special night, which they will all remember for a long time. The participants learnt new skills and more importantly have gone and performed on stage, giving them so much confidence.”
