Barnet Homes staff have named the Starlight Neonatal Unit at Barnet Hospital as their charity of the year as thanks its medical team for saving the life of a premature baby.
Barnet Homes’ Customer Services Officer, Tessa Moore, has nothing but praise for the team whose dedication and hard work saved her grandson when he was born prematurely.
Tessa said: “I’ve had first hand experience of their commitment when my daughter went into prematurely labour and my beautiful grandson was born at 27 weeks weighing just 2lbs 7 oz. He was in the special care unit for four months where it was touch and go for a while, but all the staff were angels. With their constant care and attention Bobby was nursed back to health and allowed to go home in September weighing over 8lbs.”
Barnet Homes staff will be donating the money they raise from activities such as dress down Fridays, raffles and other events they have planned in the next 12 months.
This follows Barnet Homes well established company tradition of
supporting local charities and good causes, which has raised over
£9500 since 2004 for:
• Ali’s Dream
• Barnet Young Carers and Siblings
• North London Hospice
• Barnet branch of the National Alzheimers Society
• PODs (Parents of Downs Syndrome)
• Barnet Youth Summer Scheme
• The Charlotte Louch Appeal.
Tracey Lees, Chief Executive of Barnet Homes, said:” In essence our business is about supporting people not just caring for property. I’m proud of our staff, many of whom also raise money individually, and our company tradition of giving to help to make a difference in our local community.”
Jo Wong, Neonatal Matron at Barnet Hospital said: ”The
staff on the Starlight Unit are delighted Barnet Homes has chosen
our Unit as their charity for the year. Your support is very
important to us as this enables us to do all those extra things
that ensure all our babies and parents benefit from your
generosity.”
