Soha tenant is Chair of the Board

A tenant has been elected Soha Housing’s new Chair of the Board.
Carole Burchett, (pictured) of Sonning Common, succeeds Vic Breach, also a tenant, to lead the £27m turnover company based in Didcot and providing homes for some 12,000 people across South Oxfordshire and beyond.
Mr Breach’s appointment two years ago was the first time a resident had become Chair of Soha’s board. Electing a resident to this position was, in itself, a rarity for housing associations in the UK at the time and still remains uncommon. Currently fewer than 10% of the 1200 member housing associations of the National Housing Federation have a tenant Chair.
Carole said, “I want to thank Vic for his huge contribution which gave the Board the impetus to vote again for a tenant becoming Chair.”
Richard Peacock, Chief Executive, said: "This shows that the Board has confidence in Carole personally and a commitment to involving and empowering tenants to take the key decisions that affect the services Soha provides.''
