Celia Riley, from peaceful Place receives cheque from Carvers Wood residents.
Residents from St Georges Community Housing’s Carvers Wood Sheltered Scheme have helped raise over £800 for a local dementia charity.
The dedicated residents cleared out their cupboards and held two
charity jumble sales to help raise money for Peaceful Place, a
local charity which cares for patients suffering with dementia in
South East Essex.
By selling items such as, clothes, shoes, and linen the residents
were able to raise the money which will go towards building a day
centre to help adults with the early signs of Dementia.
Established in 1996, Peaceful Place is a charity that offers unique
specialised care and support for people under the age of 65 living
with dementia and their families.
Karen Butler, St Georges Community Housing’s Sheltered
Housing Manager said: “The residents have worked hard to
raise the money for Peaceful Place and have done a great job
raising £800.”
A cheque was presented to Celia Riley, a representative from
Peaceful Place, at Carvers Wood who said: “We are delighted
with the money raised by the residents and it will be extremely
helpful to our patients and families who have to care for
them.”
St Georges Community Housing’s sheltered housing provides
older residents with comfortable, manageable and secure homes of
their own. The organisation manages 1,684 sheltered accommodation
units and received a 90 per cent satisfaction rating from residents
in the most recent survey.
Established as an Arms Length Management Organisation (ALMO) in
April 2007, St Georges Community Housing manages 12,900 homes and
