Residents enjoyed a night to remember at Waterside Court in Leybourne organised by Invicta Telecare in celebration of the sheltered housing scheme’s 20th anniversary.

Invicta Telecare manages 11 sheltered housing schemes owned by Russet Homes, including Waterside Court, providing a range of support to vulnerable and elderly people across Tonbridge and Malling. Both organisations are part of Circle Anglia one of the UK’s leading providers of affordable housing.

Family and friends joined residents of all ages to enjoy the festivities which included a tasty buffet and an entertainer who sang a variety of well known songs and kept everyone amused with a comedy routine. Marilyn Heseltine who was scheme manager when it first opened its doors to older people and who now works at another Invicta Telecare scheme nearby, helped welcome the guests.

Carol Moody, Invicta Telecare’s scheme manager at Waterside Court who organised the event said: “Waterside Court opened exactly 20 years ago and it really hasn’t changed much since it was built as part of a new estate. It has had a bigger modern kitchen fitted, new double glazed windows and many of the apartments have flush floor showers which people with mobility problems find easier but the exterior remains pretty much the same. Eight long standing residents have lived here since it opened and our oldest resident is now aged 98.”

Carol continued: “Helping people to remain in their own homes and live independently is at the heart of everything we do. I believe that by encouraging residents to get involved in events and activities like the one arranged tonight is a great way to help them keep active and live life to the full.”
