Stamping out anti social behaviour

The Regenda Group has been successful in tackling anti social behaviour and nuisance in the North West over the past 6 months, its main aim being to reassure its residents that they can feel safe and live peacefully in their homes and neighbourhoods.

Along with the continuous help and support of residents, the Police and various other agencies, Regenda’s Tenancy Enforcement Team have secured a total of 62 legal and enforcement actions in the area over the past 6 months.

These include 16 Injunctions and Undertakings for those perpetrating anti social behaviour, 4 Evictions for criminal activity and anti social behaviour and most recently 4 Injunctions against tenants who have continually failed to keep their gardens tidy.

Although enforcement action is appropriate in some cases, the team try to keep this action as a last resort and are committed to helping tenants maintain their tenancy’s by offering them help to alter their behaviour.

The team work closely with other agencies and often refer perpetrators of Anti Social Behaviour for support, including referrals to Social Services, Family Interventions Teams and the Drug and Alcohol Team.

However, swift action is taken to stop anti social behaviour if this behaviour constitutes a breach of the conditions of a tenancy agreement or impacts on neighbouring residents.

Karen Hughes, Regenda Tenancy Enforcement Manager for the Wyre area explains: “My main objective is to make sure that our residents feel confident that they can report anti social behaviour and that something is going to be done about it. I believe that the recent actions we have taken show that we are achieving this and I look forward to the challenges ahead in continuing to make our neighbourhoods across the North West safe and peaceful places for our residents to live”.
