A GROUP which makes meals for those in need around the Boston area has purchased a new freezer with money awarded to it by a housing association based in the town.
The Fenside Luncheon Club, based at Boston’s Fenside Community Centre, was awarded £255 by Boston Mayflower under the social landlord’s Community Champions award scheme.
The scheme rewards groups and organisations which perform outstanding work in the local community.
Club Co-ordinator and Chef, Jacque Winlove-Smith, said: “Our meals are really fresh, use organic produce from Kirton’s Woodlands Farm, and help towards giving people healthy eating options.
“All meals are homemade, and the purchase of this new freezer will allow us to keep using local produce while freezing some.
“Most of the meals I prepare are for people on the Fenside Estate, but all the people that use this club will benefit from the new freezer.”
The club was originally formed more than 10 years ago, and now provides a ‘meals-on-wheels’ service to the Boston area.
It moved to its present base at the community centre four years ago.
All the people that work at the club are volunteers.
