New homes for the North East New homes for the North East

Riverside North East is investing around £30million over the next four years to provide 500 more affordable homes for the region.

Demolition work in Wallsend and Blyth has begun to make way for two new developments thanks to Riverside North Easts affordable homes policy.

Eleven apartments are planned for a church site in Wallsend and eight two, three and four bed-roomed houses will replace a former retail complex in Blyth, to help meet local housing needs in accessible locations.

Riverside North East is working with Blyth Valley Council and North Tyneside Council ploughing around £2.2million into the developments with £1 million provided by the Housing Corporations National Affordable Housing Programme.

Steve Ward is Director of Riverside North East. He said: These developments form two of our ten planned new-build projects to provide much needed affordable housing for rent or shared ownership in the North East. The apartments and houses will be completed by this time next year and I am sure they will be a popular choice for local people.
