A GROUP based in Boston's Fenside which arranged sporting activities for youngsters has been awarded £500 by a local housing association.
The Fenside Umbrella Group arranged free sport sessions, including swimming, football, horse riding and rowing, for people aged 10-16 in the Fenside area.
Villagers from Amber Hill and nearby locations were also invited to take part.
Boston Mayflower gave the Umbrella group the cash under its Community Champions award scheme.
The scheme rewards groups and organisations which perform outstanding work in the local community.
Umbrella group Treasurer John Poucher said: "Mayflower's money was used to help provide activities for young people during the school summer holidays.
"These provided fun challenges for them - and activities which some children found were a bit different from what they were used to.
"Hundreds of youngsters attended, and most of the sessions were fully booked.
"We spent around £3,000 on organising and implementing the activities - a sum also part funded by the police, Acorn Trust, the Medlock Trust and the local community safety team."
The sessions finish on Friday, August 29, with an End of Summer barbecue and disco event at the Fenside Community Centre.
