ICS members triumph at Council Worker of the Year Awards 2008

Peter Kear from ICS member Staffordshire County Council won the Innovation category at the recent Council Worker of the Year Awards 2008.

The infrastructure planning specialist put forward an environmentally friendly, cost-saving initiative that will save the council £40,000 in fuel bills.

Hull City Council took the honours in the Flood Response category. Staff from Karelia Court a supported house for adults with Autism were praised for remaining calm and working tirelessly on behalf of residents when their home was flooded last year.

ICS members represented in the award finals included Mary Dalman (Croydon), Angelo Parente and Vic Cox (Haringey), Stuart Doran (Camden), Gill Boyce (Devon), James Marshall (Hull), John Wheatley (Hackney), Janette Garlick and William Bailey (both Sutton).
