Demolition marks beginning of regeneration for Bushey

The last block of the first phase of a three-year regeneration programme for Bushey is to be demolished by Crestel Partnerships on behalf of Genesis Housing Group.

This demolition marks the start of plans to regenerate a Bushey estate plagued by vandalism and anti-social behaviour.

The scheme will deliver a new mixed tenure neighbourhood of 190 houses and flats following extensive consultation with all residents, the wider community and local stakeholders.

All affordable homes on the development will be built to the latest energy efficient standards and incorporate sustainable technologies which aim to lower residents’ household bills and reduce the developments’ carbon footprint. 

Existing PCHA residents on the estate who have been heavily involved in the design and planning of the development will all be re-housed.

Stephanie Kerbyson, Customer Liaison Manager at Crestel Partnerships, said “I am delighted to see work finally start on the regeneration of the area. It’s great to see the last block being demolished as it’s been an eyesore and a target for crime”.

Gordon Beaven, Chair of the Residents Association, said: “It’s fantastic to see the builders on site and starting work on our new homes.”
