Tristar Homes and Stockton Council staff team up to raise funds for injured teenager
Staff from Tristar Homes and Stockton Council are teaming up for a touch rugby match to raise money for an injured teenager.
Six workers from Tristar Homes, the organisation responsible for the day to day management of the Council’s housing stock, and three from Stockton Council are planning to make the trip to
Kingston Park, home of the Newcastle Falcons, this month to play in the six-a-side competition.
The players are looking for sponsors to help them raise money for 16-year-old Jack Smith, who broke his neck while playing for the Billingham Under 17s. The money will go to the trust fund set up
by Billingham Rugby Club to meet Jack’s future needs.
This is the fourth year of the Newcastle Falcons Charity Inter-Corporate Rugby Match which raises funds from the entrance fee for the Falcons Community Foundation. There are expected to be 30 teams
taking part.
All the teams will be given the chance to play on the first team pitch during the event on Thursday May 15.
Paul Weston, an electrician with Tristar Homes, said: “I’m involved with Billingham Rugby Club and thought this competition at Newcastle Falcons would be a great way of fund-raising for
Jack.”
Sponsorship forms are available from Julie Robinson, of Tristar Homes, on (01642) 528831.
