John Prescott's £60,000 house challenge reaches another milestone today (Monday, June 6) when the Deputy Prime Minister announces the names of 33 organisations that have progressed to the next stage.

Mr Prescott will reveal the winners and losers during a keynote speech in Watford where he is officially opening a new Innovation Park. The Design for Manufacture competition was launched by Mr Prescott to address the issue of rising construction costs at a time when more homes need to be built in the £60,000 bracket, not less.

The competition aims to provide a showcase of how to build cost-effectively across a range of housing types without sacrificing quality.
