100th birthday surprise for Two Rivers tenant

Keeping on top of your garden can be a challenge at the best of times, but when you are 100 years old it can be something that you need a little help with.

So Newent's highly popular centenarian Bert Bullock was delighted when the team from Two Rivers Housing Association turned up on doorstep recently to give his garden a birthday trim.

"Bert is still committed to his garden and has green fingers. Whatever he touches grows, and he is enormously proud of his Two Rivers home. But sometimes he needs a bit of help from his friends, and his birthday seemed the perfect time to give his garden a birthday boost," George said.

Bert said it was a lovely surprise.

"I do want to keep my garden looking good and at my age it can sometimes be a worry. It was wonderful of George and the lads to come over and help me out. I was delighted to see them. I really have had a wonderful birthday," he said.

Two Rivers Housing is a not for profit community homes organisation which provides low-cost accommodation for the community in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire and Herefordshire.
