Crown Paints is holding a seminar inBirminghamto help specifiers, building owners and property professionals find out more about compliance to the Regulatory Reform Fire Safety Order.

Building owners have a duty of care under the Order to perform a detailed fire risk assessment and put changes in place to mitigate those risks.

One aspect to consider is that fire spreads rapidly across walls and ceilings, using paint - either oil and water-based - as its fuel.

However, Crown Trade Timonox actually arrests and extinguishes flame spread – helping buy time for evacuation in a fire. The system can reinstate a wall or ceiling surface to Class 0, yet it is applied like ordinary paint.

More information is available at the Crown Trade Timonox Roadshow lunchtime seminar, taking place in Birminghamon October 9, at midday, by contacting Laura Dakin on 01254 704951 or email info@crownpaintspec.co.uk

Lunch is provided and the event is CPD approved.

Debbie Orr, Crown Trade Senior Brand Manager, said: “Crown Trade Timonox flame retardant paints help specifiers meet their duty of care responsibilities.

“The system is chosen for its ability to reduce the risk of fire spread on walls and ceilings, where multiple layers of conventional paint can create a flammable surface if they have built-up over many years.

“Applied on the walls and ceilings of corridors, stairwells and other communal areas that form part of a circulation area or fire escape routes, Timonox can help provide additional time for a building to be safely evacuated.

Timonox flame retardant coatings work by limiting the oxygen around the flames through the release of non-combustible gases, and by using a formulation that provides a barrier to the flammable paint layers beneath.”

Crown Trade’s latest video, ‘The Right Paint For The Job,’ also includes footage of a burn test, which compares Timonox against conventional paint. http://www.youtube.com/crowntradetv
