An intrepid group of business professionals from Birmingham will be scaling Britain’s three highest peaks within 24 hours to raise thousands of pounds to help vulnerable people.

The eight-strong team are preparing to undertake the Three Peaks Challenge on May 19th in aid of the Midlands-based Trident Reach the People Charity.

Trident Reach provides housing, care and support services for vulnerable people, helping them to live independently and play their part in the community.

Andrew Vaughan of Edward Symmons, who is also a trustee of the charity, is heading up the mountaineering party, along with three of his colleagues at the Birmingham office of property consultants – Peter Loveday, Richard Durkin and James Acton and will be joined by Ian Bramley from asset-based lenders Burdale, Julian Doyle from HSBC and Tony Lozano and Majid Salim from Poppleton & Appleby.

Team member Peter Loveday said they hoped to raise over £2,000 for Trident Reach to support its work.

He said: “We hit on the idea of doing the challenge when we were talking in the pub after work. As fairly sedentary individuals, we thought it would be good to do something more active while raising money for a good cause.

“With Andrew being a trustee of the charity and it being such a fantastic cause, we hope to raise as much as we can for Trident Reach.

“We haven’t done much in the way of training but we are all relatively fit and unrealistically optimistic, so we’re confident we will be okay. It will be a real challenge but we are looking forward to it.”

Dominic Bradley, Head of Operations at Trident Reach, said: “We are extremely grateful to the Edward Symmons team and their friends for taking on such a tough challenge.

“Such generous support plays a vital role in helping us to carry on the work we do, supporting vulnerable people to reach their full potential.”
