Sefton partnership award receives RSPH award Sefton partnership award receives RSPH award

The ‘Sefton Partnership’ project which promotes health and wellbeing has won a national award.

The seven partners – including Liverpool Housing Trust’s May Logan Centre in Bootle – were recognised by the Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH) at a special presentation at the House of Lords last week.

The Health Promotion and Community Well Being Awards 2011 reward organisations for their outstanding work and commitment with the health and well being of their local communities.

The ‘Sefton Partnership’ sees the May Logan Centre working with others such as Sefton Council, the NHS and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service as a team.

The centre’s aim is to improve the health, well being and quality of life for local people and is managed by LHT under agreement with Sefton NHS.

It offers more than 60 activities including a cafe, crèche, parenting courses, toy library and Liverpool Women’s Hospital midwifery and Alder Hey Children’s Hospital clinics.

Debbie Storey, centre manager for the May Logan Centre, said: “This award means such a lot to us. All the partners, including LHT, work very closely to achieve our goals here and the whole ethos is about partnership working. This accolade is fantastic because it demonstrates to a wide audience what great things are going on at the May Logan Centre.”

The RSPH is a charity dedicated to the promotion and protection of human health and well being.

Professor Richard Parish, Chief Executive of the RSPH, said: “The Health Promotion Awards winners all demonstrated just what can be achieved with local leadership and enthusiasm.

“The Royal Society for Public Health is delighted to be associated with all these local initiatives. They are examples for others to follow. Congratulations!”
