“I have set out six key principles which must underpin safeguarding arrangements. I want to see local agencies use these as a basis to develop and

test their own actions to ensure that vulnerable people receive the protection they need regardless of where they live.”

Paul Burstow MP, Minister of State for Care Services, Capita’s 4th National Safeguarding Adults Conference, May 2011

The Statement of Government policy on adult safeguarding, launched by Paul Burstow MP, stresses the importance of strengthening local partnerships, outcomes-focused practice, and enabling choice and control for individuals.

Capita’s 5th National Safeguarding Adults Conference comes at a crucial time as the Government prepares to launch its White Paper on social care reform in April 2012. Taking into consideration the recommendations for a new legal framework and plans to put Safeguarding Adults Boards on a statutory footing, this event provides the necessary guidance for delivering the Government’s vision whilst respecting local contexts and challenges.
