Accommodation provider Shoreline Housing Partnership has ensured its own house is in order when it comes to looking after employees.
The organisation has become the first in North East Lincolnshire to achieve the coveted silver award in the Healthy Workplace Scheme for their commitment to proactively improving employee health, minimising stress and enhancing mental wellbeing.
Awarded by North East Lincolnshire’s Council’s Specialist Health Promotion team, the honour recognises the social landlord’s positive approach to creating a happy and healthy workforce.
The initiative embraces eight topics around workplace health including smoking cessation, good eating habits, mental wellbeing and alcohol abuse.
Annual health awareness days, quiet rooms, health and fitness checks, alternative therapies, health trainers, safe working awareness, access to medical advice and even a locally sourced organic veg box scheme have all contributed to the achievement.
Shoreline HR advisor Lesley Mosley said: “We’re delighted to be the first employer in the area to be honoured with the silver award.
"We are a trusted employer and we want to continue going the extra mile to ensure that our employees are healthy, safe and happy in their work – for the benefit of themselves and to the local communities in which they work.”
Programme manager for health in the workplace in the Specialist Health Promotion team, Dan Pyrah, was pleased to be awarding silver to Shoreline.
“Shoreline has been committed to the programme from its early days and has worked with us to improve still further,” he said.
“It recognises, with others in the scheme, there are a whole range of benefits to having a healthy workplace.
“They include lower absenteeism, better morale, higher productivity, increased loyalty and staff retention, social responsibility and good public relations.
“A key message is a happy and healthy workplace is a productive one.”
