Riverside Facility Services team Evolve join the ranks of ECO Stars to play an important part in improving fuel efficiency and fleet management.
Often the use of vans and fuel is perceived to just be a necessary cost as part of day to day business, rather than an opportunity to adopt best practice and engage with similar operations. ECO Stars for Sefton and Warrington, Evolve Facility Services provide Riverside’s in-house repairs and maintenance. Operating a fleet of nearly 200 vans to support their operatives, Evolve work with telematics to achieve efficient vehicle planning and understand how driving behaviour can influence the bottom line.
Brian Gates, Community Development Manager says, “ECO Stars has helped to demonstrate that there is a lot more we can do, especially in helping getting the most out of our operatives who are not primarily focused on how they drive.”
The Evolve team aim to reduce costs through planning and management, and ECO Stars especially help to support when fleet management is not the primary task. Another benefit of implementing a culture of fuel economy at work is that it can have a knock on effect on how drivers behave in their leisure time, so companies can extend their influence and create community benefits.
Riverside Director of Asset Management, Ian Gregg, is delighted: “We are really pleased that Evolve has taken the initiative to work with their staff and focus on the environmental impact of the many miles that they drive and delighted to hear that this enlightened approach has led them to achieving this award.”
There are almost two hundred Evolve vehicles travelling around the North West and on average they travel almost 10,000 miles each year – that’s a lot of potential impact on local air quality. ECO Stars can support them in becoming a driving force for a more sustainable future.
