The Together Housing Group will take centre stage at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show next May.
Newground, a member of the Together Housing Group, has teamed up with John Everiss Design to create a floral masterpiece for the world famous show.
The challenge is now on to secure funding for the garden, a total budget of £40k, which after the show will be relocated to a new home for permanent residence.
The piece, called Reachout, depicts the life of a young person they have actually worked with at the Reachout centre in Darwen.
It starts with the person at the beginning of their path with all the potential wrong choices laid out before them. And at the end, there is a pool of tranquillity and aromatic herbs to depict the person as they find the right path for a healthier future.
Nick Riley, director of Newground, said: “This feature encapsulates what we do. It highlights our work with young people, education and our environmental work in one piece.
“The plans look absolutely stunning and as our display is across from the Gucci exhibit, I’m sure it won’t look out of place on the biggest stage of all.
“It will also bring the very diverse and crucial work of the Together Housing Group does to national attention.”
John Everiss, Sculptor said ‘Newground is an inspiration to me. They tackle the issues at the heart of society without being profit driven. The real life stories presented to me have given me the inspiration for this design. We will be given the opportunity to take young people to this event , and champion the decisions they have made in their lives.”
This will be the second high-profile event the Group, will have been involved with after displaying the Stags structure, which now have a permanent home on the Shadsworth roundabout, at the Tatton Flower Show earlier this year.
The show takes place between May 20-24, 2014.
