£40,000 play dough for Bromley

Residents are set to see their plans to transform a derelict car park come to life on the Pike Close estate in Bromley, thanks to over £40,000 investment from local landlord, Riverside’s community regeneration budget.
Work has started on the site, which has been a blot on the landscape for many years and a hotspot for anti-social behaviour. Within the next few weeks a brand new play area and garden will be in place for the whole community to use.
Riverside’s community initiatives officer, Wendy Mason, said: “This project forms part of our mission to stamp out anti-social behaviour and make our communities safer and green. People told us they want to see a secure play area with space for games, training buddies and seating. They also want access to a landscaped area to use for community barbeques and get-togethers.”
Riverside has commissioned AD Construction to develop landscaping and Playdale Playgrounds are putting in play equipment, including a spinning ball, play panels and green gym structures.
Wendy added: “When areas are left derelict they can become a magnet for anti social behaviour. We hope that by transforming this space people will take a renewed pride in their neighbourhood.”
