WPH staff are becoming experts in the art of rescuing wildlife!  Back in November 2010, two technicians from WPH Building Services found a rabbit that had been abandoned in a wheelie bin.  They took the frightened bunny back to the Depot where it was cared for by animal lover Hazel Oliver, Glazing Administrator.

And now, six months later, we’re at it again!

Ian Mealor, Mobile Cleaner, came to the rescue of a hedgehog that had fallen down a drain.  Ian said: “I was out on my patch, cleaning around a gulley when I noticed the lid was missing.  When I had a closer look, I saw a hedgehog wedged down the hole.  It took a few attempts to get him out but once I’d managed it, I put him in a box to keep him warm and gave him something to eat.   As he’s wild and because of the time of year, I took him to one of WPH’s community allotments so he can help keep the slugs at bay!  As far as I can tell, he seemed grateful!”
