Stroma is pleased to announce that it
will be exhibiting the forthcoming Ecobuild event in Earls Court,
London, from 2nd-4th March 2010.
Technical Representatives from across the Stroma group will be on
hand to discuss our wide range of capabilities, including:
certification and training for Energy & Code Assessors, CRC
consultancy and project management, building energy performance
assessment, testing & improvement, aM&T software, and
sustainable design for both new-build and retrofitted housing.
Stroma collectively offers expertise in delivering reductions in
energy usage and CO2 emissions, improving occupier comfort and
reducing running costs across the residential, commercial and
public building sectors. Operating throughout the UK and Ireland,
Stroma’s services also include traditional architecture;
energy assessment and management; air-tightness and acoustic
testing and consultancy; and physical building fabric protection
and enhancement works. Our strategies cover all aspects of
sustainability and compliance within the built environment, and are
tailored to meet the demands of each client and building.
Stroma has been involved in several multiple-building performance improvement projects recently; one significant example being a project for the Isle of Man’s schools. Working on behalf of the Isle of Man Government, the objective was the reduction of CO2 emissions and running costs. Stroma’s approach was to assess current performance through various on-site tests and inspections. Targeted fabric improvement works were then undertaken, followed by building services improvements. Thereafter, better utilisation of controls, behavioural change, building management and ongoing monitoring and targeting become the focus, in a bid to reinvest savings and support a rolling programme of improvement.
Stroma employed a similar ‘fabric first’ approach to the dwellings that featured in the eight TSB “Retrofit for the Future” projects that Stroma has conducted feasibility studies for, alongside partners Connaught, who will carry out the prescribed improvement works in the next stage of the competition.
Looking forward to Ecobuild, Director Robert Coxon, comments:
‘Helped by various Government initiatives, there is
increasing acceptance of the need for substantial improvement in
the energy performance of both new and existing buildings, not only
to reduce emissions but also costs. Stroma is in an excellent
position to help builders, landlords, property managers, local
authorities and owner/occupiers achieve such targets. Our stand at
Ecobuild will reflect our serious capabilities in this regard,
albeit presented in a light hearted way… watch this
space.’
Ecobuild is the UK’s biggest event for sustainable design,
construction and the built environment. With 850 exhibitors
showcasing Europe’s best sustainable construction products,
and 100 free conferences and seminars to attend, Ecobuild attracts
