Stroma offers Diploma in Air-Conditioning Inspection

Following the introduction of mandatory inspections under the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD), Stroma is releasing a new qualification to meet the increasing demand for air-conditioning inspectors.

Stroma has now received approval from the Department for Communities and Local Government (CLG) to deliver the training, APEL guidance and accreditation to become an air-conditioning inspector.

There are two available routes to qualification and accreditation: the ABBE (Awarding Body for the Built Environment) Diplomas in Air-Conditioning Inspection or Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL).

Stroma offers both the level 3 diploma and the level 4. A level 3 inspector is qualified to inspect and produce reports for simple unitary and split air-conditioning systems. A level 4 inspector can undertake assessments on complex air-conditioning systems, including all associated plant machinery and controls. Stroma also delivers a level 3 top-up course for non-domestic energy assessors wishing to become air-conditioning inspectors.

Those with prior experience of air-conditioning inspection may qualify for APEL. Stroma can assess APEL applications, confirm suitability for accreditation via this route and propose a bespoke solution for the individual.

Once qualified and accredited, Stroma-registered air-conditioning inspectors benefit from a technical support helpline manned by experienced practitioners and regular technical bulletins and CPD links via the Stroma website members’ area.
