Leading UK housing and care provider Sanctuary Group has just been named one of the country’s Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers.
The award by the National Apprenticeship Service in partnership with City & Guilds recognises excellence in those businesses that employ apprentices.
Only the most outstanding apprenticeship employers make it into the prestigious Top 100 list and Sanctuary was chosen following a rigorous selection process.
This latest honour is just one of many awards that Sanctuary’s apprenticeship programme has received, including Macro Employer of the Year at the West Midlands section of the National Apprenticeship and Training Awards this September.
The Group currently employs over 200 apprentices, either directly or through its partners in a variety of areas, including finance, IT, business administration, health, social care, housing, repairs and maintenance and horticulture.
Sanctuary’s apprentices not only access a meaningful career path, they benefit from on-the-job training, support in achieving nationally recognised qualifications and the opportunity to earn while they learn.
David Bennett, Sanctuary Group Chief Executive, said: “Our aim is to help equip people with the skills they need to secure long term employment and apprenticeships are an excellent way to achieve this.
“Our apprentices enjoy the challenges that our structured programmes bring and this translates into a more motivated workforce. They are having a positive impact on our business and we would encourage other businesses to follow our example and develop the workforce of the future.”
David Way, Chief Executive of the National Apprenticeship Service, congratulated Sanctuary on its success: “The breadth and depth of employers on our Top 100 list just goes to show the huge impact apprenticeships have on companies of all sizes and the UK economy.
“Apprenticeships are the country’s gold standard for vocational training. As part of the new era for apprenticeship we are introducing measures to ensure there has never been a better time for employers to hire apprentices.”
Chief Executive and Director General of City & Guilds, Chris Jones, commented: “To be named as a Top 100 Apprenticeship Employer is a sign of excellence and Sanctuary should feel incredibly proud of what they have achieved. I hope that other employers will be inspired by their success to discover the benefits apprenticeships can offer.”
