mhs homes gets customers online for Adult Learners' Week
Learning how to use email and search engine Google is part of a free training session being offered by mhs homes in Medway, Kent to mark Adult Learners’ Week 2012.
Customers can drop in to the mhs express office in Chatham for a short lesson in creating a ‘my mhs homes’ account.
Once online, users can log repairs, manage their account and make comments and suggestions.
While doing so, computer users will gain valuable IT skills.
Among those to take part was 68-year-old Iris Witt who wanted to use the service from her new mobile phone.
She said: “I’ve never used a computer before, but I’ve got a new phone with internet and I thought this would be a good time to learn all about it.
“It’s actually really easy, I’m surprised at how easy it is.”
Joining Iris for the short course was Tracey Poole, 41, who hopes to pass on her new skills to her neighbours.
Tracey said: “It’s good just to be able to use a computer and get new skills.
“It is so easy to use I will be able to help other people get online and show them what it’s all about.”
Customer Service Team Leader Emma Dumbrill said: “It is a very simple way to learn how to use a computer, but has enormous benefits.
“It means our customers can contact us at a time that suits them and gives them skills they can use in other areas.”
