Grey PVC-U windows at Stoke-on-Trent College
New thermally-efficient and secure PVC-U windows supplied by Total Glass, one of the UK’s largest window and door fabricators, have transformed the learning environment for students at Stoke-on-Trent College.
Installed by Stoke-based main contractor Central 2000, the 350 casement windows, measuring 2.5 metres high, were specified in a contemporary dark grey foil with white on the inside. They replaced end-of-life single-glazed steel windows at the three-storey Cauldon Campus classroom and two-storey administration buildings in Stoke Road, Shelton.
Fabricated using the high-quality Profile 22 70mm system, the new frames incorporate folding overcam openers as well as tinted ‘anti-sun’ glass to cut glare from sunlight and improve interior comfort.
Installation in the 49-metre long ribbon-walled administration block and classroom building took place over the summer break to minimise any disruption to the college.
Although earlier scheduled for demolition, the 1960s structure was given a reprieve and its refurbishment now forms part of wider multi-million pound redevelopment plans for the city’s University Quarter.
