High performance PVC-U windows, screens and aluminium doorsets supplied and fitted by Liverpool-based Total Glass are contributing to a warm and comfortable learning environment for 280 pupils and staff at a Specialist Science College in the city.

Eleven windows measuring up to three metres by 2.5 metres, and three French doors were installed in the new single-storey Sixth Form teaching block at Calderstones School, Allerton. PVC-U was specified as the superior thermally efficient, long-life, low-maintenance and secure window solution.

Specialist project requirements included insulated sealed glazing units with anti-glare glass to cut the need for additional shading on sunny days. Two of the outside access door sets used a push panic bar release system with a low threshold for quick emergency egress.

Total Glass, an experienced fenestration specialist with a proven track record in the education sector, liaised closely with the main contractor to complete the project in term time while minimising any disruption to the school.
