JOB seekers are being urged to come along to a careers fair this Thursday (August 28) at the Bull Hotel in the city centre.
Tackling Worklessness in Peterborough (TWIP) is hosting the ‘Recruit 2014’ jobs fair from 10am-3pm with over 30 local companies attending offering a selection of exciting vacancies.
TWIP is a group which incorporates local training, employment and support organisations and is led by Cross Keys Homes housing association, who are also sponsoring the event.
The group is committed to making a difference and offer a wide range of courses, one-to-one sessions, support and training options via their website which is one of the main portals for those searching for employment to access all the options available to them.
With over 3,000 people on job seekers allowance in the city, the event is hoped to help many find work or training opportunities.
Job hunters will be able to meet local employers on the day, find out what support and training opportunities are available in the city as well as browse real jobs quickly and conveniently.
There will also be the new ‘Beat the Barriers’ interactive zone where jobseekers can find out how to tackle their barriers to employment such as low confidence, lack of computer skills and consider different ideas such as self-employment.
Lead member of TWIP and Cross Keys Homes’ Community Investment Manager, Christina Malle, said: “We hope many people who are looking for work whether that be part-time, full-time or a second job will come along to see what real opportunities are available in Peterborough and make the most of what promises to be a great one-stop careers fair covering all job hunters’ needs and aspirations.”
BT, the Army, NHS and Royal Mail are among a few of the companies lined up for the event.
