Hundreds of residents felt the summer vibe and community spirit at Foxhole Road’s annual street bash.

Foxhole Unique Neighbourhood (FUN) with funding from Sanctuary Housing brought the entire community together with their biggest jam-packed summer celebration event to date.

A mix of enjoyable activities and tasty refreshments were on hand for families to enjoy, ranging from magic and salsa dancing to close encounters with wild animals.

FUN, community group led by local residents, aims to look for new ways to bring the community together a number of events throughout the year. The resident-led group called on Sanctuary Housing, to help make the event possible.

Andy Shepherd, chairman of the FUN committee, said: “We are thrilled with the number of residents who turned up to this year’s event. We pulled out all the stops to organise a range of entertaining activities for all the family to enjoy.

“Everyone here at FUN is grateful for the support we have received from Sanctuary Housing in our annual summer fete.”

Lynne Roberts, neighbourhood partnerships manager at Sanctuary Housing, added: “All families had fun in the sun and the community spirit could be felt by all – children were running around with painted masks enjoying all the animals, while parents sampled the delicious food.

“It was brilliant to see the local families having such an entertaining time and enjoying the great British weather in such a positive way. It’s very important to us to bring the communities we operate in together as much as possible. ”

Sanctuary Housing manages nearly 3,000 affordable properties throughout the English Riviera towns of Torquay, Paignton and Brixham. Residents who want to know more can visit www.sanctuary-housingtorbay.co.uk or follow on Twitter @hellosanctuary.
