Staff and Board Members at Spire Homes and the Longhurst Group are putting their lives on the line by taking part in a charity fundraiser abseil to raise money for Homeless International.
The team of ten will be taking a leap of faith from the Northampton Lift Tower on 16th August and are eager to reach their £2,000 target as a result. At 418ft, the lift tower currently stands as the tallest permanent abseil structure in the world!
Fundraiser organiser and Director of Business Services at Spire Homes, Lynn Stubbs commented: “We wanted a challenge that would really test us and the lift tower abseil will certainly do that! It will be pretty scary so we want as many people as possible to show their support and make it worthwhile.
Some of our team have seen first-hand the incredible difference Homeless International’s work makes to people living in slum communities by helping to provide a decent home with access to clean water and sanitation – the basic things we all take for granted. They help local people to improve their own lives rather than giving handouts - it really is a fantastic charity.”
Homeless International supports partners in Africa and Asia who are working with slum communities to improve lives and find lasting solutions to urban poverty. They are the only UK charity devoted to the challenge of housing and basic services in slums.
