Recycling Action Day Recycling Action Day

Families in and around Hele and Lower Barton are invited to a Recycling Action Day this Saturday, thanks to community hub Hele’s Angels.

The community hub has rolled up their sleeves to bring together the annual action day for local residents. The event, running on Saturday 12 July from 8.00am to 1pm, will include the removal of large items and household waste from community spaces and homes, while local families will have an opportunity to learn the ins and outs of recycling.

Hele’s Angels called on their community friends, Torbay Council, Travis Perkins, Sanctuary Housing, The Big Tidy Up and front-line service provider TOR2, to make the day possible and facilitate free resources. All residents from the area are welcome and waste collections can be arranged for disabled and elderly residents by calling 01803 312 808.

Six skips will be placed on Shrewsbury Avenue for wood, plastic, garden materials and electrical items, metal, furniture and household waste. Areas covered by the action day include Truro Avenue, Lichfield Avenue, Lincoln Garden, Horace Road, Winchester Avenue and Salisbury Avenue.

Chris Forster, neighbourhood manager at Hele’s Angels, said: “We are all very excited for Saturday and this year’s Recycling Action Day. We have worked very hard to make the event as beneficial for residents as possible. We hope many of the local families come out and join forces to benefit their community.

“The community action event would not be possible without our key partners and we are grateful to all that have offered support - TOR2, Torbay Council, Travis Perkins and Sanctuary Housing.”

Katie Poole, area manager at Sanctuary Housing, added: “Hele’s Angels carries out fantastic work in the community and the annual recycling action day is a prime example. The day has many benefits for our residents and we are thrilled Sanctuary Housing was able to support the event.”
