Circle Housing Wherry is celebrating after a member of its team was named ‘Inspirational Colleague of the year’ at Inside Housing’s Housing Heroes awards.

Jo Coxford, Senior Resident Involvement & Engagement Officer at Circle Housing Wherry, collected the award at this year’s ceremony hosted by Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson in Manchester. She has played an integral role in encouraging customers across Circle Housing Wherry’s communities to get involved in their neighbourhoods and their landlord’s services through her genuine enthusiasm and commitment to reaching out to residents.

Sue Stavers, Managing Director of Circle Housing Wherry, said: “We are all thrilled that Jo’s efforts have been recognised at a national level following her excellent work in our communities. Jo joined us in 2009 bringing her unique mix of energy, passion and organisational approach to the business. Her dedication to keeping customers at the heart of everything we do is infectious and can really be seen in the way she inspires her colleagues and all of those around her.”

Jo said: “I am honoured to receive this award on behalf of Circle Housing Wherry. I am passionate about working with our residents and encouraging them to get involved with in their communities and in shaping the services we provide. I’m constantly looking at how we can continue to build on our excellent progress.”

As well as encouraging over 300 residents to regularly influence Circle Housing’s services over the last 12 months, as project manager Jo played a key role in the organisation’s award winning youth engagement programme YELL (Youths Engaging in Learning and Lives) which encourages young people to be positively engaged with their landlord. She was also named Resident Involvement Officer of the Year at the TPAS (Tenant Participation Advisory Service) awards for her input in the project.

Jo’s contribution was also recognised internally at Circle Housing’s ‘People of the Year’ awards, where her efforts to go above and beyond the call of duty were celebrated.
