This June sees a month of action for Gedling Homes, across the communities in which it works. #JumpStartJune incorporates activities from all sections of the organisation; tailored at improvements to tenants’ homes and their communities.
The month of activity kicked off on Sunday 1st June with a BIG Lunch for residents of Netherfield. More than 50 tenants and non-tenants came along to enjoy the great food, to meet their neighbours and make new friends. Local MP Vernon Coaker and newly elected Mayor of Gedling, Jenny Hollingsworth joined in the celebrations.
Further activities have taken place to encourage social interaction, such as walks to the river and community cream teas. Other events have focused on the services on offer, completing external works and estate inspections. These varied activities are all part of Gedling Homes’ key objective, to create GREAT Homes, GREAT Neighbourhoods and GREAT People. This showcasing of the work that takes place on a daily basis is evidence of the hard work social housing organisations invest in creating not only affordable homes, but also communities in which people will want to live.
#JumpStartJune aims to highlight the launch of Gedling Homes’ ‘Your GREAT Neighbourhood Promises’, documents that detail various initiatives that they promise to undertake in the next 3 years. The initiatives have been created following more than a year of consultation with Gedling Homes staff, partner agencies and tenants. They seek to create 5 star neighbourhoods across the borough by focusing on improving Gedling Homes’ properties and Neighbourhoods.
