Creating 5 star neighbourhoods

Your GREAT Neighbourhood Promise Your GREAT Neighbourhood Promise

At Gedling Homes in Nottinghamshire, they want all their neighbourhoods to be GREAT places to live; to look great, feel safe and offer great services.

Over the next few months they will be producing a ‘Your GREAT Neighbourhood Promise’ for each of the areas in which they work. Each promise will look at where improvements can be made within the communities and set out a series of promises for the years ahead. Over the course of 2014-2017, they will be working, with partner agencies, towards creating GREAT, sustainable communities for tenants to live in and be proud of.

A ‘Your GREAT Neighbourhood Promise’ has already been produced in three pilot areas and will be distributed to all tenants living within these communities. The plan will be rolled out across the remaining areas in the borough in the spring.

The promises explore the best way of providing relevant improvements to make the area better for tenants and the wider community. Gedling Homes are aiming to create five star communities! Key considerations may include:

-          Reducing anti-social behaviour

-          Reducing litter and graffiti

-          Providing activities for young people

-          Increasing access to shops

Jacquie Beacroft, Head of Neighbourhoods comments of the plans; “Gedling Homes are committed to making its Neighbourhoods GREAT places to live. The Neighbourhood promise provides us with a platform on which we, through continued partnership working and community engagement, can ensure ALL our neighbourhoods are vibrant, inclusive and cohesive places to live and work.”
