Making a splash for charity

A group of L&H Homes staff and clients have raised nearly £300 for charity by swimming the equivalent of the channel over 12 weeks.
Maggie Winship, an L&H Housing Support Worker, and two of her supported clients, Kirsty Lamle and Maggie Hodosi, took up the annual channel swim challenge between 9th September and 1st December. Money that they raised as a result will support Aspire, a national charity that works with people with spinal cord injuries to create opportunity, choice and independence.
To swim the equivalent of the English Channel saw the trio swim 1,418 lengths of local swimming pools over the two month period to complete the challenge, raising a total of £284. All three have since been inspired to lead a more active and healthy lifestyle.
Maggie Winship said “It’s been a very challenging task but very rewarding. The challenge fits in really well with the support that L&H Homes provide. Alongside the tenancy support we offer, we also focus on helping our clients stay healthy, be responsible, enjoy and achieve and make a positive contribution to the community. We’d also like to say a huge thank you to the friends, family and colleagues who have supported us with generous sponsorship and keeping our morale high.”
