Greenfields Community Housing is celebrating coming 36th in the nation’s top 50 landlords. The list, compiled by 24housing in conjunction with the Housing Quality Network, was judged by a panel of top industry experts along with votes from the public, and aims to highlight the achievements of the best housing providers in the country. Greenfields is one of only four Community Gateway associations in theUK, meaning that its residents are at the heart of decision-making; and it has been recognised as being a champion for this.
Greenfields prides itself on its commitment to community initiatives - ensuring that its activities benefit the community and help individuals improve their quality of life. The association recently employed a Health and Wellbeing Co-ordinator to provide a range of free activities, including a drink and drugs support programme and support for residents suffering from long-term health conditions. As a result, Greenfields recently celebrated being the only housing association in central Englandto receive and Health and Wellbeing Award from Investors in People.
Greenfields employs a Positive Engagement Co-ordinator to divert young people away from negative influences and provide them with employment opportunities and skills. He does this through diversionary activities, such as sports, and he provides opportunities to help people back into education, training or employment, such as work experience and opportunities to earn qualifications.
Greenfields is also building up to 250 new homes by 2018 and remodelling homes for older people in the district, including transforming them from bedsits to self-contained, accessible flats.
Phil Adams, Chief Executive, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be included in the list of top 50 landlords, and we feel that this is great recognition of the hard work we do to ensure that our residents are happy and healthy. We are always looking for new ways to help improve life in our community and we believe that it is this commitment which makes us more than just a landlord.”
