The Residents Association from Oxford House, in Bootle. Merseyside, recently held an official opening ceremony for their brand new Community Room Kitchen, which has been refurbished by Sovini Property Services.
The kitchen in the community room, which acts as a hub for the Oxford House residents, has been well overdue a makeover for some time, with the facilities aging over 20 years.
The work was scheduled as a result of the residents’ group action plan, which they put in place together with the One Vision Housing’s Customer Empowerment Team, who encouraged Sovini Property Services to facilitate the building work.
As part of its commitment to give back to the local communities and neighbourhoods it serves, Sovini Property Services kindly donated their services in order to refurbish and fit the brand new kitchen, which was also donated by their supplier, JTC Kitchens.
In order to ensure that the job was completed in time for the resident’s weekly coffee morning, staff from Sovini Property Services, Kevin Lloyd, Kevin Bramhall and Ben Murphy, kindly spent a weekend of their own time fitting the kitchen.
Cec Talent, Chair of the Oxford House Residents Association, said: “This new kitchen has made such a difference to us tenants, who use it to socialise, host residents’ meetings, and also to plan our charity fundraising and community projects.
“We could not be more grateful to the Sovini lads, who gave up their time. They were a pleasure to have around, and did such a great job.”
The Residents’ Committee at Oxford House, one of the One Vision Housing blocks in the areas, organise a number of fundraising events and initiatives throughout the year, raising funds for many different charities, including Macmillan and Zoe’s Place.
