Plymouth fun day
More than 75 families and residents from Spectrum Housing Group enjoyed a family fun day in Plymouth.
Residents from the local area attended a special fun day at Wantage Gardens. Despite a rainy start to the week, it turned out to be a beautiful sunny afternoon with the sun shining long enough to allow the free barbeque to feed the crowd.
Emazdad the magician entertained the children with his fantastic magic show and balloon making, with children delighting in taking part in the show, racing to create their own balloon animals. A face painter also ensured there were lots of butterfly and superhero-faced children running around.
“Events like this help to encourage togetherness and reduce anti-social behaviour” said Lisa Elford, Resident Involvement Officer for Spectrum Housing Group, who helped to organise and promote the event to local residents in the area. “It’s important for us to have pride in our communities, and to continue to make these events accessible and enjoyable for our residents”.
Devon and Cornwall Police Constabulary proudly displayed their fire engine to residents on the day, and Police Community Support Officers also gave youngsters the rare opportunity to sit in their police car and sound the siren whilst giving out stickers and advice to the residents.
Spectrum Housing Group regularly arrange events such as this for local residents in order to bring communities together.
Mrs Benton, a resident of Wantage Gardens, thoroughly enjoyed the day and said: “This fun day has been lovely and just what we needed. Please do it again!”
