Pensioners group enjoy day out thanks to housing maintenance business

Members of a Wallsend Residents Group enjoyed a day trip away thanks to a donation from local repairs and maintenance provider, Kier North Tyneside. High View North Pensioners Club received the donation after the group’s chairperson, Mrs Dewhurst, requested support from Kier through its corporate request process.
Mrs Dewhurst said: “Although we do fundraising weekly, the money is enough to keep the club running and very little else. This kind donation from Kier North Tyneside funded a coach trip to Stockton and Northallerton; luckily the rain held off until we got home!”
The group, which meets once a week, is made up of a small number of pensioners, most of whom live alone. The trip allowed them to spend some extra time together, enjoying a river cruise on the Tees with a meal and entertainment, followed by a wander around the market in Northallerton. As Kier funded their trip, it means the ladies can now use their fundraising money towards a day out for Christmas dinner.
Kier regional director, Mike Furze, said: “As a local employer, we are always keen to support good causes within the areas we work, as well as support groups and clubs that help to promote a community spirit. I’m glad the group enjoyed their trip!”
Providing repairs and maintenance services to 16,000 properties across the borough on behalf of North Tyneside Council, Kier North Tyneside has a history of supporting local causes and organisations.
