Say 'no' to cold calling

Aire Valley Homes Leeds' Outer South area panel and Leeds City Council’s outer south area committee have jointly funded a number of Cold Calling Control Zones. These have been rolled out in partnership with West Yorkshire Trading Standards, Leeds City Council, Safer Leeds, the local Neighbourhood Policing Teams, Aire Valley Homes Leeds’ staff and local ward members.
To raise awareness of rogue traders, pushy sales people and cold callers, the zones are being funded and set up in areas where residents have fallen prey to such practice. Hailed as a huge success nationally, the local zones have been well received and have shown to reduce crime.
After local consultation, a number of areas are now in the ‘zone’. Residents have received an information booklet advising how to report cold callers, how to deal effectively with pushy callers, and window/door Cold Calling Control Zone stickers.
