Valentine Diamond Wedding Celebrations

Valentine’s Day this year was extra special for residents at Spectrum Housing Group’s The Pavillions in Shaftesbury. Not only did they have a Valentines Tea Party but it was also the 60th wedding anniversary of residents Mari and Forbes Irvine.

The couple (both 84) moved into The Pavillions 3 years ago and celebrated their big day with fellow residents, receiving a large bunch of flowers from Spectrum Housing Group, and an anniversary cake.
The secret to making it to a diamond wedding anniversary according to Mari is: “if we do fall out we just hold hands, have a drink and make up”.

She describes Forbes as very good natured and kind.

The couple have had a fun packed time together and done all the things that they have wanted to. They had a canal boat for 17 years, went youth hostelling together, and hitch hiked across France. The couple have lived in Spain for 8 years too. They didn’t take things easy when they retired either, buying a motor caravan to travel around in. They also have two children – Greg and Jackie.

“We’ve seen a lot and done a lot” said Mari “and we wouldn’t change a thing.”
